Gun Review: The CZ-85B

CZ-USA – Model CZ-85B:

I consider firearms proficiency to be a part of basic preparation for many reasons.  Security for myself and my family being top among them!  Here I take a look at a CZ-85B made by CZ-USA that I recently acquired.  I this CZ-85B through the paces at the firearms range.  The gun performs better than I do… lol.  Watch this video for a funny look at me dropping a magazine during a reload… wow that will get you killed!  I guess I need to keep practicing with my new gun :)

About JJ

As a child I grew up in the Midwest on a small farm and fell in love with the outdoors. Later, that led me to join the USAF where I became a USAF Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) Instructor. As a SERE Instructor I have trained in all types of environments. Temperate, Arctic, Desert, and Rain Forest. After four years in SERE I retrained into the counterintelligence and counterterrorism field where I have worked for 11 years. I have traveled to the Far East, Asia, Southwest Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America. The combination of both careers has thought me to see two sides of a coin. I consider myself a realist and while I enjoy primitive survival living, hiking, camping, and hunting for short periods. I also have the experience & understanding to know that living primitively is NOT fun or easy for long periods. Therefore, I try to be practical and logical in an effort to build a reliable, flexible philosophy of self reliance that can be utilized in any situation. Hopefully reading this blog will help you to do the same.

Congratulations on your new firearm purchase. I’ve owned a CZ-75 for years and they really are one of the more under-noticed sidearms out there. I have several thousand rounds through my 75 and it has performed well beyond expectations the entire time; as well as being more accurate than I am – just as you experienced.

The CZ-75 is my bug-out sidearm, due to its reliability, ease of operation, and the abundance of 9mm ammo on the market. It is close to the size of the Beretta M9, so you may find that some holsters designed for the M9 fit the CZ – you’ll just have to shop around on that one. Over the last couple of years, I found both a shoulder and drop-leg rig that work well with my CZ-75, so you should have some options out there.

    Happy Shooting,

    Patrick,

Thanks for the comment! I hadn’t thought about looking for an M9 holster, that’s a great idea, because they are about the same size and shape! Thank a ton!

    Cheers
