Schrade SCHA6L Folding Knife Review
This is a look at the Schrade SCHA6L, a cool and beefy assisted opening Every Day Carry (EDC) folding knife that will work well for daily carry or great for adding to tactical gear and vehicle survival kits, etc. You can learn more about the Schrade SCHA6L at:
I have added this knife to my Tactical plate carrier as a back up knife. I like the strong assisted opening function especially for emergency situations where one handed opening may be required. It also has a nice glass breaker on the pommel which could be highly useful in tactical situations as well.
The knife has a rubber over molded section on it that help with traction/ “gription” in all conditions. However, I am a little concerned how well that glue will hold up over the long term. That being said I have had the knife almost 2 years now and it is still holding up fine. The knife is slightly thicker that I would like for an EDC carry knife. However, that beefy grip is perfect for tactical situations where your fine motor skills are not going to be up to par. Which is one reason I think it makes an excellent back up tactical knife.
The pocket clip is long and strong and deep and seems to do the job just fine. The Taylor Brands website offers the following specifications:
Schrade Large M.A.G.I.C. Assisted Opening Liner Lock Folding Knife, Bead Blast AUS-8 High Carbon Stainless Steel Drop Point Blade with Ambidextrous Thumb Plate, Black Aluminum Handle with Black Overlay, Safety Lock, Glass Break, Lanyard Hole, and Pocket Clip
